Tab Laven

Tab Laven started playing guitar as a very skinny 12 year old kid, wearing out his Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel records literally - lifting and dropping the needle back down into the grooves of the vinyl disc (explain to your kids) - over and over again until the records skipped so badly he had to go out and buy new ones, only to repeat the process. It only seems fitting that years and years later he would have the chance to audition for Art Garfunkel and get the job! All those years of a nerdy boy sitting on the edge of his bed, hunched over his guitar in the fading light of his room, paid off.

Along the way he visited California and, being in the right place at the right time, got his first gig touring and recording with Mary Macgregor, who had a huge hit way back when called “Torn Between Two Lovers” (explain to your kids). So, as a young 21 year old, he toured the world, from Bangkok to Bakersfield, from Japan to Joplin, played on numerous TV shows including one he watched religiously every night as a kid, The Tonight Show, where he met his lifelong hero Johnny Carson and Johnny’s sidekick, Ed (hey-oh).

Moving right along and more than a few years later, he nervously walked out on stage along side the King of Country, George Jones and joined Harry Connick, Jr. at the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN to perform a couple Christmas songs with Harry on piano and Tab on guitar. It would take way too long to explain, but again, really involved being in the right place at the right time!

Moving very slowly along, we come to current time. Tab has a bunch of kids songs he has written over the years, some previously recorded and released and some not. In any event, they caught the ear of a certain girl Tab fancied and courted and later ended up marrying (just to get it over with). She fell in love with both Tab and his songs and encouraged him - no, forced him - to re-record them and put them out on his own.

So, this brings us right here with you reading this, which was supposed to be a very short paragraph about me - whoops, about Tab - and you’re here, Tab’s here and the CD is here, all in the right place at the right time and once again, all the planets have aligned!
